Report on Scottish Principals' Visit 香港和蘇格蘭學(xué)校校長(zhǎng)及教師代表團(tuán)來(lái)我校訪問(wèn)

　　The Hong Kong and Scottish educators visited Xiwai in order to learn more about our integrated Chinese and international curriculum, our methods of teaching and teacher training, and how we put our philosophy of global citizenship education into practice both inside and outside of the classroom. The delegation spent an entire day at Xiwai, and their visit provided ample opportunities for academic exchange, discussion, and reflection.

　　The day started with a welcome reception in Mrs. Sun Linlin’s traditional Chinese culture classroom on the first floor of the Library Building. Head of School Dr. Lin Min shared his philosophy of teaching and learning and his vision for the future of international education, while International Middle and High School Principal Enrico Piccinini provided an overview of Xiwai and how we train and develop innovative, “entrepreneurial” teachers. High School Director of Domestic Deparment Zhang Xiaofeng spoke about our Makerspace program and how we are trying to realize the concept of a school as an “innovation factory”.

　　Next, the delegates had an opportunity to observe Chinese-taught Math classes in both the International Primary and Middle School departments.

　　These were followed by lengthy, stimulating feedback sessions during which the visitors were able to speak with Xiwai teachers as well as students. A wide variety of topics was discussed, including the differences in content and teaching between China and Scotland, techniques for motivating students, and the best ways to assess student progress.

　　A common refrain from the delegates was that the teaching at Xiwai was much more open, creative, and cutting-edge than they had expected to see at a school in mainland China!

　　In the afternoon, the visitors were treated to Chinese Art and Music classes before winding things down as the school day neared its end. For both the delegates and our own Xiwai principals and teachers, the visit was an incredible success: knowledge was gained, new friendships were forged, and all participants came away feeling enriched and rewarded by the experience.

　　Though we are proud of the warm praise that Xiwai received from the delegates, we will strive to improve even further. The work of building a great school is never finished, but it is made easier when we can benefit from the insights of fellow educators from around the globe. We look forward to welcoming our new friends back in the not-too-distant future!

　　5月11日（星期四），西外迎來(lái)了由Principal Cheung Siu Ming （Principal of Hong Kong’s Creative Secondary School）率領(lǐng)的香港和蘇格蘭的校長(zhǎng)及教師代表團(tuán)。香港和蘇格蘭的教育工作者訪問(wèn)了西外，了解我校的中西融合課程、教學(xué)和師資培訓(xùn)以及我們培養(yǎng)全球公民的教育實(shí)踐理念。代表團(tuán)在西外呆了整整一天，他們的訪問(wèn)促進(jìn)了國(guó)際間的學(xué)術(shù)交流、討論和反思。

　　我們?cè)趫D書(shū)館大樓一樓孫琳琳老師的中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化教室接待了遠(yuǎn)道而來(lái)的代表團(tuán)。校長(zhǎng)林敏博士分享了他的教學(xué)理念和他對(duì)未來(lái)國(guó)際教育的展望。高中國(guó)際課程部校長(zhǎng)Enrico Piccinini則講述了西外如何培養(yǎng)和發(fā)展“創(chuàng)業(yè)型”教師的理念。而高中國(guó)內(nèi)部主任張曉峰也談到了我們的Makerspace計(jì)劃，以及我們?nèi)绾闻?shí)現(xiàn)“創(chuàng)新工廠”的理念。

　　為了體驗(yàn)我校課程，代表們?cè)谛W(xué)雙語(yǔ)國(guó)際課程部和中學(xué)課程部中觀摩了幾節(jié)數(shù)學(xué)課。課后，訪問(wèn)學(xué)者們與西外的師生進(jìn)行了溝通和交流，包括中蘇（蘇格蘭）兩方在內(nèi)容上與教學(xué)上的差異，并探討激勵(lì)學(xué)生的技巧以及評(píng)估學(xué)生進(jìn)步的最佳方式。代表們表示，西外的教學(xué)比中國(guó)大陸的其他學(xué)校更加開(kāi)放，更具創(chuàng)意，更走在時(shí)代的前沿！

　　下午，在即將結(jié)束的訪問(wèn)中，訪客們親身體驗(yàn)了我校的中國(guó)藝術(shù)與音樂(lè)課程。對(duì)于代表團(tuán)和我們的外方校長(zhǎng)、教師來(lái)說(shuō)，這次訪問(wèn)取得了令人難以置信的成功：我們獲得了知識(shí)，收獲了新的友誼，所有參與者都感受到了這次經(jīng)歷所帶來(lái)的豐富的回報(bào)。

　　西外為代表們的熱烈好評(píng)而感到驕傲自豪，同時(shí)我們也將努力不斷提高自己。雖然未來(lái)任重而道遠(yuǎn)，但我們可以從全球教育工作者的見(jiàn)解中獲益，從而加快工作的完成。我們期待未來(lái)有更多來(lái)自世界各地的教育同行，來(lái)到西外，同我們一同探討國(guó)際教育。
